CRAFTY FEST PRESENTS
Keynotes & the Compass Stage
How in-house counsel can map their way to success

What can in-house counsel do to map their way to success? Our Compass stage at Crafty Fest on the 4th of June was dedicated to answering this question. With a range of panel discussions focused on the landscape of business, charting your course through different obstacles, and how to find the scenic route to success.
NDA reform, workplace ethics, and accountability
Zelda Perkins is an advocate for NDA reform and a powerful voice in the global conversation about workplace ethics and accountability. We kicked off Crafty Fest Day 2 by inviting Zelda on-stage to tell her story, and to explain changes in policies at both corporate and governmental levels that are helping to stop the use of NDAs to cover up criminal activity.
Ethical clarity in high-stakes decisions
Jordan Breslow is a veteran of technology law and former General Counsel, and his guidance kept a CEO—and one of today’s most influential venture capitalists—out of prison. We closed Crafty Fest Day 2 with his story. Join us live from the Hat Stage as Jordan shares how he helped navigate uncharted territory at the intersection of law, leadership, and risk.
There and back again: A GC reflects on the rise and fall of his former company
Daniel Chin (GC, ANNA Money) was GC on the biggest IPO of Arrival, a UK tech company, in 2021. He was also GC when it went bust, in 2024. Live from the Compass Stage, Daniel tells his story, and reflects on the impact of his experiences on the lawyer he is today.
Foraging for insights: A data-led approach to measuring success
Matt Vaughan (EVP Strategic Partnerships / Corp Dev, LawVu), Ikwu Amiaka (Chief Legal Officer, Collinson) and Leo Thorn Gent (Head of Legal, Europe and Americas, Corio Generation) explore how legal teams can measure (and communicate) their wins to the wider business.
Unstable terrain ahead: Navigating your way through tricky in-house dilemmas
In-house counsel are often placed in tricky situations. But what if you could have a panel of experienced legal minds help you work your way through incoming dilemmas? In this session, Elliot Kushner (Senior Client Solutions Manager, LOD), Petra Lees (Head of Regional Commercial Legal for UK, Europe & Israel, TikTok), Yara Owayyed (General Counsel, YouLend) and Kandarp Thakar (Legal Director, UK&I, Uber) share stories and skills they’ve developed that help them in times of crisis and risky situations.
Don't overfill your pack: Taking on more responsibility, responsibly
Daniel Hayter (Managing Director & VP, Axiom) and Dipali Sahni (General Counsel, Supply Chain Finance, FIS) take on the topic of how your legal team can take on more responsibility – responsibly. This Compass stage session covers tips, tricks, and tools that can help along the way.
The law explorer live legal simulation: Data leak
Join us on the Compass stage at Crafty Fest 2025 as Andrew Kitchen (Deputy General Counsel, Hudl) and Ruben Miessen (CEO & Co-Founder, LEGALFLY) take the audience through a live legal simulation of a data breach. How will the legal leader at the heart of the crisis take action? Listen in to see what happens.
Walking a different path: Why in-house counsel don't become CEOs
What does the peak of a legal career look like? Why don’t more in-house counsel ascend to CEO roles, or other C-suite positions? Simon Fox (CEO, Frieze), Suzy Lovell (Head of Legal and Business Assurance, Kier Group), and James Lewindon (Head of Client Development - UK, Pinsent Masons Vario) explore those questions and more in this legal career-trajectory focused discussion.
Fire watching for your business: staying agile in the face of an uncertain world
We join Stephen Heitkamp (Co-Founder, Hence Technologies), Máire Barr (General Counsel, Kellanova Europe), and Michael Doran (VP, Legal Ops and Managed Services Delivery, Johnson Hana) for an in-depth discussion of how in-house counsel can stay adaptable in the face of an ever-changing, sometimes chaotic global landscape.
My true north: A showcase of in-house creativity
Now for something a little different! In this very special Compass stage session, Asli Yildiz (Global VP Data Privacy, S4 Capital Group) and Shika Soni (General Counsel, EMEA, Asset Management) join Crafty Counsel’s Ben White to discuss what artistic expression means to them, both as lawyers and as people. They also encouraged our audience members to stretch their own creative muscles as they spoke! Listen in to find out what happened next.
