Introduction from Griffen

We kicked off our first ever Crafty Week with our annual Disputes Day event. Whether you’re a litigation expert or trying to tackle a dispute you’ve never dealt with before, we hope Disputes Day served as a good opportunity to connect with fellow in-house and external counsel about navigating conflicts. Here are some key themes that emerged across the day:

  • Best practice vs. reality – Discussions around how best to guide a business through a crisis touched on the idea that reality may oftentimes differ from what the ‘best practice’ path forward should be. Planning ahead and developing key relationships were flagged as crucial to help mitigate issues before they arise, and to allow for a clearer path forward if things begin to escalate.
  • Managing pressure – Confidence, candour, and communication were highlighted throughout the day as key tools for legal teams to utilise when managing high-pressure or public disputes.

  • AI, evolution & reform – From exploring how AI can optimise and impact litigation, to the evolution of litigation finance and NDA reform, there was a major focus on change and transformation in the world of disputes. What will tomorrow’s conflicts look like? And what can in-house do to stay two steps ahead?

A huge ‘thank you!’ to all of our attendees and the ecosystem of partners that joined us on Disputes Day. We hope that you left with some good insights, a new connection or two, and some inspiration for navigating your current or future disputes.
